wow...I'm really not good at this blogging thing. I guess I'll have to make a resolution to come here once a week at least...rather than every month (or 4). I have no reason not to, well, unless the 3 1/2 year old kidlet that is home with me every day is highly demanding, but I really can't honestly say that she is that way on a daily basis, so I should have a chance at some point each week, right?

In October, as part of a contest, I scrapped 31 layouts in a month. To be honest, I scrapped 6 layouts and a card between Oct 1-24 and then did the other 25 within ONE WEEK. Yes, it's got to be some kind of personal record. I was so scrapped out that last weekend, when my BFF came over to scrap, I had trouble finding motivation. I did to a few pages, but it was not easy for me. So, I'm on a break. Maybe I'll reorganize and declutter and find some 'ganas' (Spanish for 'the will', 'the want to', 'the urge') and start scrapping again soon.

In the meantime, I'm not totally ignoring my supplies. On Tuesday night, my kids and I sat down to help my Kindergartener decorate a turkey. It was a printout of a turkey and the assignment was to use things we have around the house to decorate it. It was to be done as a family. Honey had to work, so he couldn't join us, but the kids and I had fun. We used macaroni and beans from the kitchen and I pulled out some buttons, glitter, flowers, ribbon and some fuzzy balls (from another project) from my craft supplies. Everyone wins a prize for doing it, so it's not really a contest, but I think it turned out pretty good. My son even cut out some hair from a picture in a magazine and we stuck it on the Turkey's head. Lots of fun.

I have plans to make some styrofoam turkeys too. I saw the idea in Scrapbooks, Etc. You spray paint and attach (one on top of the other) 2 styrofoam balls, then cover them in buttons (brown in the pic, but you could do whatever you want), add some feathers, eyes and a beak. It looks so cute and I know that the youngest 2 will love it and I suspect the older 2 will have fun with it too, even if they don't admit it (they ARE teens after all). I think I'll spray paint the styrofoam today so that it's dry and this weekend we can finish them up (or maybe tonight, if all goes well). In the past, I haven't done a lot of decorating, simply because by the time I got home from work, fed kids, etc, I was too tired to deal with decorating too. Now that I'm home, WHY NOT?!

So, I promise to come back a bit more often, hopefully with some accountability details.

Until then...Happy Scrapping!!!

back from Vacation!!

So, I said in May that I would be back to update after the weekend and I never did so. I was a bit busy getting ready for the end of the school year, quitting my job (!), planning a trip for my daughter to Mayo Clinic and then planning our summer vacation...all of that happened in about 6 weeks' time. I did do a little scrapping, but it wasn't that much and when I did it, I certainly didn't take time to note everything I used because the time was so treasured and so rare that I didn't want to take the time for such details LOL! However...8 weeks later, the kids are out of school, I quit working, Mayo Clinic went very well and our vacation through TX was awesome. I got over 1200 photos from that trip between my camera, DD's camera and our waterproof cameras. Granted, those waterproof cameras are not great, so some of the photos didn't come out too well, but hey...1200 photos is plenty to sift through, right? I'm in the process of choosing what to print, uploading and ordering. I did get some ordered the other day so I can do a couple of 'in review' layouts while I wait on the others to be printed, but I haven't taken the time to scrap them yet. Well, that's not completely acurate. I sat down to scrap the other night and couldn't do it. I tried...I tried SO HARD...but it wasn't coming together at all. So, I left it and haven't made it back over there yet. Hopefully tomorrow I can get something done.

So, I have no good reason not to take the time to log what I'm using. I spent way too much on vacation when I found 2 scrap stores, so I have plenty of new supplies.

On a side note, I love my man...not only is he extremely understanding and patient with my obsession...I mean, HOBBY...but he helps me shop. Granted, not everything he likes agrees with me, but what I don't use, he and the kids will. Yes, he occasionally scraps with me. What a man, huh? He even sent me away at the first LSS, so that I wouldn't see how much we were spending, because he knows that if I know how much it is, I will put some of it back...and believe me, I would have this time too. It was insane how much that store made off of us!

Anyway, hopefully I will have something more to tell soon. with that many photos, I really need to get moving if I'm ever going to make a vacation album (of course, I probably won't scrap them all, but you know what I mean)

Scrap much?

So, yeah...I haven't been scrapping that much, but I plan on changing that this weekend. I got my monthly kit from lifetimemoments.com and I did buy a few American Crafts rubons and House products, but other than that, I haven't even really been buying (which means, I really am just too busy, because shopping is a must for me to survive!)

Anyway, this weekend is National Scrapbooking Day (May 3) and there are lots of events going on at LSS's and online, so I plan on scrapping in between a few other things I need to get done. Starting when the kids settle down and I at least get the youngest 2 in bed. I need to print some photos to pick up tomorrow, but I have plenty to keep me busy until then :D So, watch for my accountability list for the weekend...hopefully it will be a long one!

Ciao for now!

more shopping...still no scrapping

Yesterday I got the entire afternoon to myself. I was 'ordered' by my man to buy the Cricut Design Studio program.

First I stopped at HL and they happened to have the Mini-monograms cartridge on clearance for $35, so I bought it. I also bought another AC Album that I needed and:

BG Precision File set (I've been wanting this, but LM is always out of it!)
a Vanishing ink pen (sounded great for journaling! I can draw lines and my journaling won't be all crooked!)

Then I headed to WM and bought the Cricut DS and some new cutting mats for the Cricut. That's ALL I bought. It wasn't cheap, but I needed the mats and have been wanting everything else. And I can get tons of use from the new cartridge, right? It wasn't one I necessarily wanted (at least it wasn't on my list of what to buy next), but I have heard good things about it, so I decided to go for it at that price!

Now, if I can just get some scrap time in, maybe I can USE some more things! Maybe tonight I can get a couple of pages done. Then I can report back with some usage totals :D

Here we go...

On Thursday, 2/28, I made a pretty big (for me) online purchase for more scrapbooking supplies...paper and embellishments

On Friday, I shopped some more things at a local store. I just can't seem to stop buying and I don't have enough time to scrap. Well, maybe it's not that I don't HAVE time, but once I get time, I'm tired or have kids climbing on me or my man is home and needs my attention. He's really great about my scrapping and even helps with my spending sometimes LOL. But, I really need to USE this stuff, so I'm going to post everything I buy and everything I use here. I'm not counting things like albums and page protectors, because I need those to put my projects in when I'm done :D

Thursday:
4 sheets PP (Rusty Pickle)
1 sheet matching stickers
Queen & Co Felt Fusion
5 pkgs of Prima Popups (hearts, stars, birds, dragonflies and butterflies)
3 bottles of MM Paint
1 KI Rubon (Super Cool)
5 pkgs of HS Ghost Flowers, in different colors
1 pkg "Thought-fulls"
1 sheet cardstock
1 pkg Brads
1 pkg Thickers (because I can't get enough of them!)

Now, in my defense, the popups and the Ghost flowers will be shared with my best friend and scrapping buddy, Julie, so they aren't ALL for me, but she got a few of her own popups too, so those are mostly mine.

Friday:
20 sheets cardstock (mostly Blue, I was running out)

Hopefully tonight or tomorrow I will get a chance to USE some of this stuff! Wish me luck!

Val's Scrapbooking Accountability Blog

I always say I'm going to USE what I have, but inevitably, I find more to buy even if I haven't scrapped in weeks. I am addicted! So, here is where I'm going to try to update with what I use and what I buy...so that I can try to make some sense of it and actually use things I buy.
